The CNAF, the main data processing and computing technology research center of INFN, is in charge of the digital laboratories of the network, at the moment under construction.
When fully operational, the digital laboratories will contain all the data acquired by the CHNet laboratories, together with the description and annotations by humanists. As a first step, the access to the repository will be reserved to the network staff; later it will be extended to a larger audience.
At this early stage, INFN CHNet portal allows simple image processing (visualization of the plain image and analysis of the XRF spectrum of recorded items). We plan for the near future to extend the functionalities of our portal including radiocarbon and thermo-luminescence dating, mine database of provenance based on lead isotopic ratio. We also offer access to digital radiography, tomography of several artifacts.
